Description
This beef tenderloin recipe results in a beautifully seared, juicy, and tender piece of meat that’s perfect for any special occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds beef tenderloin, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the beef tenderloin generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on all sides.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the beef tenderloin to the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, until a golden-brown crust forms.
- Add the butter, crushed garlic, and herbs to the skillet. As the butter melts, spoon it over the beef for added flavor.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- Remove from the oven and let the beef rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve sliced with the pan juices drizzled over the top and garnish with fresh herbs.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the perfect doneness.
- For a richer flavor, consider marinating the tenderloin for a few hours before cooking.
- Pair with your favorite side dishes and a good red wine for an elegant meal.
