Description
A smooth and creamy caramel custard dessert that is a classic in Mexican cuisine.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns into a golden caramel. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
- In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
- Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the larger pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish.
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a plate, and enjoy!
