- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 batch of buttercream frosting
- Graduation-themed decorations (caps, diplomas, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
- Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with buttercream frosting and decorate with graduation-themed decorations.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- You can color the buttercream frosting to match your school colors.
- Store cupcakes in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
