Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 4 large eggs
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups frosting (buttercream, cream cheese, or your favorite type)
- Food coloring (for school colors)
- Graduation-themed decorations (edible or non-edible, like caps, diplomas, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a sheet cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared sheet cake pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, frost the cake with your choice of frosting and use food coloring to customize it with the graduate’s school colors.
- Decorate with graduation-themed decorations as desired.
Notes
- You can use boxed cake mix for a quicker option. Just follow the instructions on the box.
- Customize the flavor by adding cocoa powder for a chocolate cake or using flavored extracts.
- For a fun twist, add sprinkles or candy pieces that match the school colors into the batter before baking.
