  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Celebrate your graduation with these adorable graduation gown cookies! Perfect for parties and gatherings, these cookies are decorated to look like traditional graduation gowns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Royal icing for decoration (colored for caps and gowns)
  • Black candy melts (for graduation caps)
  • Miniature chocolate candies (for caps)
  • Gold or silver edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  4. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass to form a cookie shape.
  5. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
  6. Once cooled, decorate the cookies with royal icing to resemble graduation gowns. Use colored icing to create the gown and black candy melts for the graduation caps.
  7. Place a miniature chocolate candy on top of each cap and sprinkle with edible glitter if desired.
  8. Let the decorations dry completely before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling for easier handling.
  • Feel free to customize the gown colors to match your school colors.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
