  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Celebrate graduation with a stunning high school graduation cake that will impress everyone at the party. This recipe features a moist and delicious cake layered with rich frosting, perfect for customization with school colors and themes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Food coloring (in school colors)
  • Graduation-themed decorations (edible or non-edible)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, level the cakes with a knife if necessary. Place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top.
  10. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining buttercream frosting.
  11. Add food coloring to the frosting if desired to match school colors, and decorate with graduation-themed decorations.
  12. Slice and serve at the graduation party, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a fun twist, consider adding chocolate chips or sprinkles to the batter.
  • You can customize the cake with different flavors, such as chocolate or vanilla, depending on your preference.
  • Make sure to allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
