Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 slices of bread, cubed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese. Mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and lightly browned on top.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate it overnight. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the cooking time if baking straight from the fridge.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.
