Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 6 slices of bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and lightly browned on top.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- You can prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate it overnight. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the cooking time if baking straight from the fridge.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.
