Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 slices of bread, cubed
  • 12 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, cheese, and optional vegetables to the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to add additional vegetables or spices to customize the casserole to your taste.
  • This dish can be prepared the night before. Just cover and refrigerate before baking. Increase baking time by about 10 minutes if baking from cold.
